Holding Onto the Past

He only looked at her
just cast a passing glance;
so why should I infer
a steamy hot romance?

My own brief love affaire
was over years ago.
He said he didn’t care
because he loved me so.

A nest of vipers start
to coil inside my chest;
they tighten round my heart . . .
again I fail my test.
