Compensation
For rain that fell unceasingly all day,
and wind that chilled the raindrops on one's nose,
for clouds that hung, a dreary leaden grey,
for lack of feeling in half frozen toes…
For needing extra care on roads of glass,
for wishing uselessly for summer's sun,
this sight, in roadside bushland as we pass:
a vibrant orange berry bush, with one
impossibly beautiful Crimson Rosella.
