Best of Bytes
When I first ventured online in 1996, there was hardly a rhyming line to be found. I promptly set about learning HTML and creating a web site devoted exclusively to rhyme & meter, which served as a beacon to the similarly afflicted. A community of rhyming poets was born, remaining active in various incarnations for about ten years. Within five years, Tenderbytes.Net, affectionately referred to by friends as "Mary's Maze," had reached an unmanageable size in excess of 2500 individually coded pages, many of them replete with doggerel and dead links. I couldn't keep up, and didn't have the time or inclination to separate the wheat from the chaff and convert it all to a format that would more or less run itself, so it just sat there until I forgot to pay the domain registration renewal in 2005. As I continue to revisit those pages, I will begin to repost some of my favorite bits and bytes from that old site in no particular order.
